The Mayor’s office has sponsored an annual toy drive since 1978.Oakland City Center supports the annual toy drive, providing drop off locations in the lobbies of five Oakland City Center buildings.

The Renaissance School |

In its ongoing commitment to community and art, Oakland City Center hosted the Renaissance School’s annual art show in June each year The art exhibition featurss work by students who attend the school which is based in the Dimond district of Oakland. Oakland City Center provided the space for the exhibition free of charge to the school.

Oakland Children's Fairyland |

Created in 1950, Children’s Fairyland is a historic 10 acre outdoor park and educational facility in which children’s literature is “brought to life” through fairy tale exhibits, animals, and talking storybooks that children activate by turning a “Magic Key”. Fairyland serves over 130,000 families with children, who reflect the diversity of the greater Bay Area. Over 7,000 children come on educational field trips, many from Head Start, Even Start and the YMCA programs who utilize low group rates. Voted Best Amusement Park by SF Focus Magazine and Bay Area Parent, Best Kiddie Playground by SF Bay Guardian and Best Place to Bring your Kids by East Bay Express. |

Oakland Interfaith Gospel |

The mission of the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir is to employ black gospel music to express the power of spirit and to bring a message of faith, hope, love, and joy to the world. Through interfaith, multi-racial and multi-cultural membership, the Oakland Interfaith Choir exemplifies the principles of equality, justice, peace, unity and cooperation and of course, amazing gospel music. The Oakland Interfaith Choir is a perennial favorite among the musical entertainment at Oakland City Center. |

Oakland School for the Arts |
| |
Oakland School for the Arts (OSA) has partnered with the City of Oakland in a successful $60 million campaign to restore the Oakland Fox Theatre. This 1920’s classic movie palace will open this fall as both a commercial entertainment venue and OSA’s new home. Not only does OSA play a crucial role in the revitalization of downtown Oakland, but it has also achieved a phenomenal record of college acceptance. Over 95% of OSA’s graduates have been accepted into four-year colleges, including some of the most prestigious universities in the nation, Amherst, Columbia, Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Carnegie Mellon and UCLA School of Film, Theatre and Television just to name a few.

Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra |

Since its founding in 1981, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra (PBO) has grown from a regional ensemble to an internationally-recognized world-class orchestra. PBO is the 6th largest orchestra in California and the largest period-instrument organization in the United States. Names the 2004 “Ensemble of the Year” by Musical America, PBO is positioned today to play a leading role in national arts education and audience development for classical music in America. Through the creative combination of artists, venues and concert themes, along with exquisite recoding s and online resources, PBO is successfully reaching a broad and growing audience. In its 27th season, PBO has never been better poised to serve and engage our community with clarity, innovation and even greater artistic success.

Rebuilding Together Oakland's April Home Building Project |

For the third year Oakland City Center employees, vendors and volunteers have remodeled a home for a low income, elderly homeowner so that she may live in safety, comfort and independence. All renovations and repairs were free to our Oakland homeowner, Doris. With the help of over 40 volunteers, some of the repairs made to Doris’s home were a new roof and gutters, windows throughout, a new driveway, fencing and landscaping, exterior and interior painting and a brand new refrigerator. Our generous vendors included Legacy Roofing, Team Glass, Richlen Construction, Hoem Construction, IKEA, Monticelli Paint, Team Construction and O.N. Electric. Many of our retail food tenants, such as Max’s, Fountain Café, It’s a Grind and Peet’s Coffee provided libation for our troop of volunteers. Many thanks to all who lent a hand, food or materials to improve Doris’s house!

Wardrobe for Opportunity |
Wardrobe for Opportunity, a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization, helps low-income women in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties improve their image and self-esteem by providing them with quality business clothing appropriate for any job opportunity. Providing professional clothing is crucial to helping low-income job-seekers, but getting the job is only the first step. Through our Pathways to Opportunity program, Wardrobe for Opportunity has assisted over 350 women in developing the skill set necessary to advance in their careers and lay the foundation for a successful future.
