Oakland City Center Kicks Off Art & Soul with Summer Fest
Mid-Week Events Bring Dance, Music and Cinema to OCC
OAKLAND – CBRE Investors is pleased to announce Summer Fest, a mid-week, outdoor summertime celebration. As Oakland’s downtown business hub, Oakland City Center provides best-in-class shopping and dining amenities for the whole community. In anticipation of the popular Art & Soul Festival on August 20th and 21st, OCC is getting the party started early with daily entertainment and raffles, all free of charge for the general public.
All events take place in the City Center Plaza outside the 12th St. Oakland City Center BART station.

Tuesday, August 16th from noon to 1pm
Cut a rug in the heart of Oakland City Center! For 18 years, DJ Dave Gillis has been enchanting crowds at weddings, corporate events and private functions throughout the bay area. His smooth mixing skills and infectious beats will have you on your feet in no time. And don’t miss local hip-hop fusion dance troupe New Style Motherlode as they wow the crowds with a special live performance.

Wednesday, August 17th from noon to 1pm
Catch some big-top fun under the sun! OCC celebrates summer fun with stilt walkers, jugglers, face painters, and old-fashioned candy girls. You can also sit back and enjoy the artful tunes of The Family Crest. Their sweeping, wall-of-sound rock alludes to fellow “strings-adorned bands” such as Tindersticks and Arcade Fire. Drawing from rock, jazz, folk, and other classic styles, the Family Crest will leave you wanting more.

Grease is the word! OCC brings you back to the 50s with a sing-along viewing of the classic musical Grease, starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton John. Enjoy wine offerings from Faz and Max’s as you sing along to your favorite hits, including Summer Nights, Greased Lightnin’, and Beauty School Dropout. Stop by the popcorn cart, grab a sweet confection from the candy girls, and take your picture with Danny and Sandy lookalikes.
