Oakland City Center Announces Holiday Concert and Event Lineup

OAKLAND – CBRE and Oakland City Center are pleased to announce this year’s festive lineup of events, performances, and donation opportunities sure to put everyone in the holiday mood. OCC is making spirits bright with a free holiday noontime concert series, as well as the 3rd Annual OCC Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration and the Children’s Hospital of Oakland/BOMA Toy Drive.

The noontime concert series gives downtown Oakland workers, neighbors, and commuters the chance to take a break from their desks every Wednesday and enjoy a variety of music and cultural events in the lively atmosphere at City Square.

WHERE: City Square Plaza, outside 12th St. Oakland City Center BART station

WHEN: Wednesdays at noon from November 30th – December 21st

All events are free to the public

Merry Christmas!
Wednesday, November 30th from noon to 1pm
Founded in 1986, the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir will warm hearts as they sing some of the most popular Christmas tunes. With 60 singers and four musicians, the OIGC represents a racial, cultural and spiritual mix that is as diverse as Oakland itself!

Feliz Navidad!
Wednesday, December 7th from noon to 1pm
Javier Magellon and Mariachi Colima bring you south of the border for a Christmas celebration, Mariachi style! Enjoy the festive mix of guitars, violins, and trumpets for a Holiday treat.

Happy Kwanzaa
Wednesday, December 14th from noon to 1pm
Join Babá Ken and the West African Highlife Band as you celebrate Kwanzaa with hot, dance inspired Holiday music from the highlife music era.

Happy Chanukah!
Wednesday, December 21st from noon to 1pm
Hailing from the Bay Area, the internationally-acclaimed Red Hot Chachkas infuse the klezmer tradition of Eastern European Yiddish music with jazz, rock and classical for a modern twist to classic Holiday sounds.

Don’t forget to join Santa, his elves, and the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir as Oakland City Center lights up the sky with the Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration from 5-8pm on December 1. And keep your eyes peeled for the Oakland Children’s Hospital/BOMA Toy Drive donation bins throughout Oakland City Center starting November 28th.
